New Timber and Natural Cladding Products
Timber and natural cladding is a versatile, environmentally-friendly and functional construction material that's used widely in both modern and traditional buildings projects. It's an excellent choice for weatherproofing structures while providing a durable and visually appealing finish that will last!
As well as being an economical and often distinctive way to enhance and safeguard a building's exterior, timber cladding’s versatility makes it suitable for both domestic and commercial use, whether it’s a new build, an extension or a refurbishment project. Offering sustainability as a renewable resource, wood's natural properties make this the go-to choice when it comes to finding an eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing building material.
With that in mind, we’re delighted to announce four new timber and natural cladding products to our customers. Let’s get you familiar with these superb new additions to the Fountain Timber range.
Thermowood® Cladding
We’ve known for centuries that burning the surface of wood in an open fire can enhance its durability for exterior use. Even the Vikings used this technique for building fences! Thermowood® is a modern method of improving the durability and stability of Finnish-grown Pine and Spruce. By subjecting the timber to temperatures exceeding 200°C, chemical and structural changes occur within the wood, resulting in a more robust and weather-resistant material. As a result, Thermowood® is a superb choice for cladding external walls in exposed areas.
The colour of Thermowood®-D (pine) varies based on the treatment temperature and duration. A higher temperature results in a darker appearance. With a 30-year desired service life, Thermowood®-D (pine) exterior cladding is both durable and low maintenance, making it an ideal solution for sustainable building design.

Bamboo Cladding
Bamboo cladding is an environmentally-friendly alternative to materials such as composite, plastic, and even tropical hardwoods. Bamboo grows faster than any tree and can be harvested within 4-5 years, making it a highly renewable resource. With its natural appearance, high density, and stability, bamboo cladding is a durable option with a life expectancy of 30 years. Installing these boards is also straightforward and hassle-free.
Suitable for both domestic and commercial applications, the raw bamboo material undergoes a carbonization process at 160°C under high heat pressure for a specific period to remove sugar, nutrients, and any worm eggs. After which, a special drying technique is used to ensure that the moisture content of the bamboo boards is consistent throughout, preventing the accumulation of water inside the boards and making it inhospitable for fungi to grow.

Linax Cladding
For those seeking a low-maintenance cladding solution that provides a natural wood feel, Linax is an excellent choice. The boards are dried and dimensionally stable, which reduces moisture uptake in the timber and minimizes the formation of cracks over time. Brown and grey boards have superb colour fastness, while Linax Natural boards undergo grey weathering over time. Linax cladding comes ready for installation, and any cuts must be coated with our wood oil to qualify for the Linax warranty.
The superior, linseed oil-treated timber used in Linax cladding ensures a longer-lasting product, backed by an extended 12-year warranty. Our moisture-repellent cladding is guaranteed against rot for 50 years and requires maintenance only every 12 years. Linax cladding is FSC-certified and made from Swedish redwood, offering a sustainable and eco-friendly choice for your building project. With its natural wood look and exceptional durability, Linax cladding is an ideal solution for both residential and commercial applications.

iro external Cladding
IRO architectural cladding is a wholly unique product, manufactured in Britain using a finely-tuned seven-step process, making it a desirable choice for enhancing outdoor spaces. IRO cladding is created using pressure-treated homegrown Larch boards, which are meticulously selected for their quality and robustness.
IRO cladding manufacture involves a carefully controlled charring process of the Larch boards—which provides a perfect balance between the charred profile and the finished aesthetic. The charred boards are brushed to remove any loose material, leaving a smooth surface. Wood cream is then applied to enhance charred profile and helps to preserve the service life of the boards—while also providing a sleek and glossy finish.
